Support

Frankly i do not know how many ppl come across this page but in any case if you do come across here, i invite you to join me in the prayers i have for our fellow batchmates.

Its been a long 4 years of medical school and now we are entering into the 5th year. Somehow, even when the journey is ending, most of us are far from being fully prepared to step into the full responsibility of a doctor.

We are still one year away from completing the mbbs. Yet, there have been numerous things that have just struck people around me. In just one day of meet up as a batch, somehow i feel the burdens in the different people around me as they share about their troubles, be it with their family, what they themselves are facing right now, or how some other batch mate is involved in a issue that if unresolved, could only prove to be a downhill descend to major breakdown.

Somehow, i cant help but feel myself deeply set in what they feel and experience. Each one of us has pains and things that we have to go through and at some point of time, need help and support from someone else around us. Here i just want to encourage you, if you are reading this, that year 5 isnt just about becoming an excellent SIP student, to get into the residency of your own choice, to complete that research project for the prof to like you, to butter up relationships with high ranking ppl. But it is definitely a time that we have to stand and encourage each other. Take the first step to ask people who are more quiet about their life, share with them your troubles that in turn they can open up to you such that you can help to encourage them with your words. Ultimately, i dont know how many of you feel the same way as i am, but i just cant bear to see past year's event repeat itself, especially on someone who is not just a stranger, but a friend that you have shared joyous times with, spent that extra time to celebrate his or her birthday with.

May i encourage each of us, christian or not, whatever your religion is, to take up the active role of loving kindness to each of our fellow colleagues around us. Whoever they are, wherever they are. You never know when the short amount of time you spend with them instead of reading your textbook may just make the great difference in their perspective of life.

I hope that God will empower each of us with wisdom to handle the different issues that are presented to us, energy that we can be there to help out with the weaker one, capacity that we can be able to tolerate the upcoming challenges and most importantly love, for our fellow colleagues not just in the mere sense of the word, but in actions and thoughts that we can bless them through our actions and words.

Year 5 can only get tougher, yet it is up to us to make a difference, for together, we are strong and can overcome obstacles, no matter how large they are.
